What is a Social Entrepreneur?
If your venture has a mission to create social change, and that mission holds a higher priority for you than maximizing personal profits, you may be a social entrepreneur.
Social entrepreneurship can take many forms: starting or leading a mission-driven business, founding or directing an innovative nonprofit, implementing a community initiative, serving as an activist, working to educate others through writing, teaching, speaking, or artistic works — or even launching a movement.
|
 |
|
Related to social entrepreneurship are three other terms: social enterprise, social capitalist and social ventures. Social enterprise is the use of business methods to achieve a social mission. For example, a nonprofit organization that funds its programs by selling products or services.
Or a for-profit business that directs a significant percentage of its profits to a social cause, or whose products and services are aimed at solving a social problem. Social venture is a broader term that applies to any organization, business, or initiative launched for the purpose of addressing social problems or creating social change.
If you're thinking about working with the Lifestyle Center’s coaches, but don't consider yourself a social entrepreneur, don't worry. If you have a business or business idea with a social mission, let's talk!
Many of us would like to take action but feel overwhelmed, don’t know where to begin or feel many of our problems are too big to be addressed or solved. But many have found ways to respond with creativity, energy, addressing problems with new ideas and new tools and developing solutions. People just like you and I are creating new organizations specifically to solve social issues, educational challenges and environmental problems just to name a few.
Although problems and issues are being attacked from many directions, today’s change makers are building businesses and organizations and unleashing our amazing human potential.

Life Purpose entrepreneurs enjoy making the world a better place, helping others, or have a positive impact on their community.
